When it comes to being ourselves, many of us worry about fitting in and being accepted by others. We may feel like our quirks and eccentricities make us stand out too much, or we may try to suppress those parts of ourselves in order to fit in with the norm. But what if we stopped worrying about fitting in and instead focused on letting our true selves shine bright, weirdness and all?
Many thanks out to the unknown author who gave us this little gem. A powerful reminder that it's okay to be different, and in fact, it's often our differences that make us the most interesting and unique. When we embrace our quirks and allow ourselves to be authentic, we attract others who share our values and interests. We create a community of people who accept us for who we are and support us in our journey to be ourselves.
This is particularly important for those of us who feel like we don't quite fit in with the mainstream. Maybe we have odd interests, unconventional fashion sense, or a different way of looking at the world. It can be easy to feel like you're alone in our weirdness, but the truth is that there are other "weirdos" out there just like you, searching for a tribe who will accept and celebrate all they are.
As cheesy as it may sound, I’ve come to personally know that when you let go of all the deterring doubts and just live the truest version of self, you become a beacon for other weirdos to find. A vibe is created where people can come together and celebrate their unique perspectives. We no longer have to hide or suppress but instead allow ourselves to be seen and to express.
Of course, this is easier said than done. It can be scary to let our guard down, we may worry about being judged or rejected. But there are two truths to consider. One, there is always a risk, you need a little bit of the bad with the good. (I said what I said) When you lean into that uncomfortableness that comes with the fear of rejection, you’ll realize that people are drawn to you precisely because of your differences.
So if you're feeling like a weirdo in a world that doesn't quite understand you, don't be afraid to let your freak flag fly! Embrace your idiosyncrasies. I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how many fellow odd balls out there are just waiting to tribe up.
